Women’s role in contemporary society was the main theme of a debate they held in the theatre of the Sacri Cuori Catholic Parish Church. The debate was organized by Istituto Comprensivo Statale Caro – 85° Circolo Didattico Berlingieri. Many people took part in this event: the Youth Issues City Councillor Alessandra Clemente, the journalist Laura Viggiano, the webmaster Brunella Mastropaolo, the pharmacology researcher of Federico II University of Naples Rossana Sirabella, the Unicef Delegate  Clara Di Bernardo, the writer Alessandra D’Antonio.

The President of SeLF (Secondigliano Libro Festival) Foundation, the retired journalist Salvatore Testa, chaired the debate, that was alternated by a theatrical performance, some monologues and interviews. This was so to remark women’s important role in contemporary society.

“Secondigliano is a wonderful territory and I’m very proud of itMiss Clemente said to young people – It’s a district with many problems we must solve. But it has also got some wonderful things, such as SeLF Foundation and schools. Not only must we denounce things wrong, but also let young people choose between good and bad things”.

Miss Clemente remarked women’s fights for their civil rights, most of all for the right to vote. “We can get results after fighting, not after sitting on a bench. More than one hundred years ago women let society understand that female sensitivity isn’t important only in family or in private life. Women tend to make peace, not to whip into conflicts”.

Finally Miss Clemente remarked the important role of teachers in risk crime areas: many of these women transformed their job into a real educational mission.
